Ronald Apolinario de Lira is a historian and has his master and doctor degrees in Social Sciences by Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (UERJ, 2015), where he had developed research on studies of religion and religious social movements in Baixada Fluminense, covering themes as Pentecostalism and the Catholic Theology of Liberation. Currently he is an adjunct professor at the Department of History at Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ) and leader of the CriHist, Núcleo de Pesquisa Cristianismo e Historicidade research group. His research focuses on the areas of Social History of Religions and Local and Regional History of Baixada Fluminense, dealing with themes as social movements and religiosities; religiosities in peripheral regions; History of Catholicism; Theology of Liberation and Catholic Traditionalism. He had his doctoral thesis published in 2019 entitled “Catolicismo e Política: Pastoral da Juventude e formação partidária no PT”.
