Associate Professor, Department of History, UFRRJ.

Has a degree and Master’s in History from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, a Doctorate in History from Universidade Federal Fluminense, with a sandwich period in Portugal in Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE- IUL). Did Post-Doctoral research in Universidade de Évora. Also worked as a Researcher (post-doctoral studies) in Centre des Recherches Historiques (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales).

Was a Research Fellow in FAPERJ’s Young Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro program (FAPERJ).

Member of the Laboratory of Iberian Worlds (UFRRJ), the Thematic Project “Thinking of Goa” (USP- FAPESP), and the Brazilian center of Red Columnaria.

Main research themes: Iberian empires in the Modern Era; Catholic Missions and the Inquisition in the Modern Era; the Portuguese Asian Empire; Catholicism and Power; Enslaved Asians in the Iberian worlds.

Areas of interest: the Portuguese Empire in Asia and Brazil (sixteenth to eighteenth centuries); Inquisition and History in Christian Missions; Power, Culture, and Society in the Ancien Regime; Religion and Social Hierarchies in Iberian Spaces; Slavery in the Indian Ocean.
