Associate Professor of the History of Brazil, Multidisciplinary Institute, Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro.

Has a degree in History (1996), a Master’s (2000) and Doctorate (2004) in Social History, all from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Has experience in the area of History, with an emphasis on the History of Imperial Brazil, working mainly with the following themes: Rio de Janeiro, Regency, Primeiro Reinado, Independence, the press, sociabilities, revolts, civic manifestations, politics, nation and citizenship.

Author of more than 50 published works, including the book Ezequiel Corrêa dos Santos: um jacobino na Corte Imperial.

Areas of interest: History of Brazil (Empire and First Republic); State, Nation, and Citizenship; the Press, Ideas, and Political Movements.
