Assistant Professor, UFRRJ.

Has a degree in History from Universidade Federal Fluminense, a Master’s and Doctorate in Social History from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.

Coordinator of the UFRRJ Documentation Center (CEDOC). Wwas research coordinator for the documentaries “Memories of Captivity” and “Jongos, Calangos, and Folias: Black Music, Memory, and Poetry.” Helped organize the UFF Petrobras Cultural Memory and Black Music collection. Participated in the digitalization of the weekly publication “Correio da Lavoura,” in partnership with Prof. Dr. Álvaro Pereira do Nascimento.

Member of LASA (Latin American Studies Associations) and Brasa (Brazilian Studies Association) and GT Emancipation and Post-Abolition/ANPUH.

Areas of interest: History of the Americas, Republican Brazil, and Post-Abolition. Social History of Labor and Culture; History of Blacks in the Atlantic; History of Africa; Racialization and Racial Relations; Traditional Cultural Expressions; Trajectories and Biographies; Quilombos; Cultural Connections and Transnationalism; Demography and History; History and Law; Public History; Oral History and Memory.
