RESEARCH PROJECTS
- The Question of Subjectivity in Marx and Paulo Freire
Period: (2022 – Present)
Late capitalism presents us with successive interpretive challenges, with the field of subjectivity being one of them. This research revisits Marx’s work to explore his ideas on subjectivity, which remain relevant today, contrary to interpretations that view the philosopher merely as a “materialist thinker” of societies.
In parallel, the study also examines Paulo Freire’s ideas on subjectivity to foster a practical discussion on the urgency of popular education. Faced with the neoliberal shift and the corresponding production of subjectivity, this investigation aims to demonstrate how Marxian and Freirean references maintain their contemporary relevance in addressing the political challenges of popular education today.
