He has a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2003), a master’s degree in Organic Chemistry from the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2005) and a PhD in Chemistry from the Chemistry Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2009) with a sandwich period (2006-2007) at the Université de Strasbourg (France). Guest professor at the Université de Strasbourg – France (2012) and Uppsala University – Sweden (2023), CNPq level 2 researcher (since 2013), Young Scientist of Our State FAPERJ (2015-2023), treasurer (2016-2018) deputy director (2018-2020) and Director (2020-2022) of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry at the Brazilian Chemistry Society, Deputy Coordinator (2015-2017) and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Course in Chemistry at UFRRJ (2017-2019). He has experience in the area of Pharmacy and Organic Chemistry, with an emphasis on Medicinal Chemistry and Synthesis of heterocycle compounds candidate for drugs, using microwave synthesis and cross-coupling reactions with metals as tools. He works mainly on the following topics: planning anti-inflammatory and antitumor drugs and for the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Recently, he has been dedicated to obtaining fluorescent compounds with pharmacological properties with a view to obtaining theranostic compounds, and also to the development of PROTACs as a new form of pharmacological modulation.
