Results of the 2016-2020 Graduate Profile

A total of 31 graduates participated in this survey, representing 64.58% of the PGEAAmb graduates in the period 2016-2020.

The sample universe included 29%; 22.60%; 16.10%; 12.9%; and 19.4% of these graduates who graduated in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.

Regarding personal data: (*Survey carried out on a sample of 31 graduates, representing 64.58% of the PGEAAmb graduates in the period 2016-2020)

Age at admission to the PGEAAmb: 58.31% of the graduates entered between the ages of 25 and 30; 19.40% of graduates entered the program when they were over 35 years old; 19.40% of graduates entered the program when they were under 25 years old; and 3.20% of graduates entered the program when they were between 31 and 34 years old.

Sex: 54.8% of PGEAAmb graduates are female and 45.2% are male.

Skin color (according to the IBGE): 48.40% of PGEAAmb graduates declared themselves white; 29% of PGEAAmb graduates declared themselves mixed race; 16.10% of PGEAAmb graduates declared themselves black; and 6.50% of PGEAAmb graduates preferred not to declare.

Type of Degree: 45.2% of PGEAAmb graduates are from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro itself; 32.30% of graduates come from private institutions located in the state of Rio de Janeiro; 12.90% of graduates come from public institutions located outside the state of Rio de Janeiro; 6.50% of graduates come from other public institutions located in the state of Rio de Janeiro; and 3.20% of graduates come from private institutions located outside the state of Rio de Janeiro.

Regarding academic activities with PGEAAmb after obtaining the master’s degree

Admission to the doctorate: 54.8% of the graduates continued in the academic field in the doctorate course, 29% at UFRRJ itself and 25.80% at other institutions.

Participation as a graduate in a research group, project or technical-scientific production linked to a PGEAAmb professor: 35.50% of the graduates currently participate in a research group, project or technical-scientific production linked to a PGEAAmb professor; 29% of the graduates currently participate in a research group, project or technical-scientific production linked to a PGEAAmb professor, but are not currently participating; 35.5% of the graduates participated in a research group, project or technical-scientific production linked to a PGEAAmb professor.

Publication of scientific articles related to the defended dissertation: 61.30% of graduates published their articles generated by their dissertation; 25.80% of graduates have their articles generated by their dissertation in the process of being submitted to journals; and 12.90% have not published their articles generated by their dissertation.

Regarding the impact of the PGEAAmb master’s degree on the graduate’s professional activity

Paid professional activity before enrolling in the PGEAAmb: 58.10% of graduates were already engaged in paid activity before enrolling in the PGEAAmb.
Paid professional activity after completing the PGEAAmb master’s degree: 77.40% of graduates engage in paid activity after completing the PGEAAmb.

Current area of ​​professional activity: 29% of graduates work in activities related to research; 16.10% of graduates work in activities related to teaching; 9.70% of graduates work in companies or as service providers in areas related to agricultural sciences; 9.70% of graduates work in companies or as service providers in areas not related to agricultural sciences; with activities related to research; the others work in other activities or do not have paid employment.

Relationship between professional activity and the master’s degree in agricultural and environmental engineering: 54.90% of graduates stated that their current professional activities are very or reasonably related to their master’s degree completed at PGEAAmb; 25.80% of graduates stated that their current professional activities are little or not related to their master’s degree completed at PGEAAmb; the others do not have paid employment.

Influence of the master’s degree on paid employment after defense: 32.30% of graduates stated that their current professional activities were impacted by completing the master’s degree at PGEAAmb.

Impact of the master’s degree on the graduate’s monthly income: 41% of graduates stated that the master’s degree did not influence their monthly income; 22.60% of graduates stated that the master’s degree contributed to an increase of 26 to 50% in their monthly income; 16.10% stated that the master’s degree contributed to an increase of up to 25% in their monthly income; 19.40% did not know how to say.
