Full professor at the School of Chemistry. She holds a Doctorate (1993) and a Master (1986) degrees in Chemical Engineering from UFRJ and a bachelor degree (1981) in Chemical Engineering from UFPE. She worked for two years at the Center of Composite Materials at the University of Delaware (from 1994 to 1996) and for one year at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2003. She was head of the Department of Chemical Engineering at the School of Chemistry for one term and Coordinator of the Chemical and Biochemical Process Engineering Program for three consecutive terms. She is a member of the Editorial Board of Composites Science and Technology, Advances in Materials Science and Engineering and Frontiers In Sustainable Food Systems. She has experience in the materials area, with an emphasis on composite materials, and in the applied statistics area, with an emphasis on experiment planning and statistical process control. It also acts in the thermal and rheological characterization of materials in general. She is the author of a book, several chapters and over 80 journal articles. She has translated more than 18 technical books, including the famous one from R. B. Bird (Transport Phenomena). She has already coordinated several projects with FINEP, CNPq, BNDES and companies. She coordinates the Thermoanalysis and Rheology Laboratory, located in the Biofuels, Petroleum and its Derivatives Center. The video of a seminar on Multivariate Analysis has been viewed on YouTube by more than 37,500 people since 2013. She is the president of the Brazilian Society of Rheology since 2021.
