ACCESSIBILITY

This portal follows the guidelines of e-MAG (Electronic Government Accessibility Model), in compliance with Brazil’s Federal Government regulations, as established by Decree 5,296 of December 2, 2004.

Accessibility means including people with disabilities in activities such as using products, services, and information. Some examples include buildings with wheelchair-accessible ramps and restrooms adapted for people with disabilities.

On the internet, accessibility primarily refers to the recommendations of the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) from the W3C. In the case of the Brazilian government, it refers to e-MAG (Electronic Government Accessibility Model). The e-MAG is aligned with international recommendations but establishes specific accessibility standards for government websites.

At the top of this portal is an accessibility bar containing standardized navigation shortcuts and an option to change contrast settings. These tools are available on all pages of the portal.

The standard shortcuts for the Federal Government are:

  • Pressing Alt + 1 on any page of the portal will take you directly to the main content.
  • Pressing Alt + 2 will take you directly to the main menu.
  • Pressing Alt + 3 will take you directly to the internal search field.
  • Pressing Alt + 4 will take you directly to the website footer.

These shortcuts apply to Google Chrome, but there are some variations for other browsers:

  • In Internet Explorer, you need to press the Enter key after using one of the combinations above. For example, to reach the internal search field, press Alt + 3 and then Enter.
  • In Firefox, instead of Alt + number, press Alt + Shift + number simultaneously.
  • In Firefox on Mac OS, press Ctrl + Alt + number instead of Alt + Shift + number.
  • In Opera, the shortcut is Shift + Escape + number. Pressing Shift + Escape alone will display a window with all available access key options for the page.

At the end of this text, you can download some files that provide more detailed explanations of accessibility and how it should be implemented on websites.
