The PPGCAF is a graduate academic program of presential learning, recognized by CAPES (certified 03/18/2019) in the area of Agrarian Sciences I (Forest Resources and Forestry), conferring the Master’s and Doctor’s degrees in environmental and forest sciences. The Program is linked to the Institute of Forests of UFRRJ, with the master’s level having been created in 1993 and the doctoral level in 2004. The faculty is highly qualified, being composed of professors with extensive academic and professional experience who work at UFRRJ and at the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA). The Program is unique in this area of knowledge in the State of Rio de Janeiro and is organized into three areas of specialization (Science and Technology of Forest Products; Nature Conservation; Silviculture and Forest Management) each with two lines of research.
