Teaches undergraduate courses in Literature and Pedagogy at the Multidisciplinary Institute (IM) and participates in the Graduate Program in Education (PPGEDUC) under the research line Line 3 \u2013 Ethnic-Racial and Gender Education: Languages and Afro-Diasporic Studies. Also serves as a collaborating professor in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Applied Linguistics (PIPGLA), under the research line Line 1 \u2013 Discourse and Literacies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Previously served as a professor at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) from 2003 to 2009. Holds a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Literature from the University of Bras\u00edlia (2000), a Master\u2019s degree in Linguistics from the University of Bras\u00edlia (2003), and a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Institute of Language Studies at the State University of Campinas (IEL\/UNICAMP, 2010).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2008, she was a visiting researcher in the Department of African American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, supported by a CAPES scholarship. She leads the Contemporary Literacies Studies Collective (CELeC). Her research interests include youth studies, literacies, and ethnic-racial and gender relations from interdisciplinary perspectives that connect Applied Linguistics, Anthropology, and Education. She has extensive experience in training Portuguese language teachers, integrating linguistic, social, and human development. Literacy practices in peripheral cultural interventions<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Period:<\/strong> 2016 \u2013 Present<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This research is part of the &#8220;Non-School Literacies&#8221; research line within the Contemporary Literacies Studies Collective (CELeC). It aims to investigate the literacy practices of youths in Baixada Fluminense, a metropolitan region in Rio de Janeiro historically stigmatized as a land of coronelismo, banditry, violence, and poverty. Despite these narratives, the region is a culturally rich and vibrant territory, hosting funk circles, rap battles, poetry salons, and film clubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This research approaches these cultural productions not only as political interventions in their territories but as <strong>\u201cliteracy agencies\u201d<\/strong>\u2014spaces where youth engage in reading and writing practices for shared goals. The broader aim is to understand how these practices are used, signified, and disseminated by young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The study also seeks to construct pedagogies that are sensitive to how students mobilize specific symbolic and material resources within their communities\u2014resources often overlooked by traditional school literacies.
