The Doctorate-level Graduate Program in Science, Technology and Innovation in Agriculture (PPGCTIA), is the first program at Doctoral level and of a binational character approved by CAPES. The PPGCTIA was created in association between UFRRJ and the National University of R\u00edo Cuarto (UNRC), so It is a partnership involving Brazil and Argentina, focused on the development of science and technology in agriculture of interest to Mercosur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The administration of the Program is done through 2 Collegiate (Boards), one in each country, with meetings being held every year in alternate countries involving the two Collegiate. The offer of disciplines in PPGCTIA is made in a modular way, according to the discipline grid to be defined according to the demand of students for each Area of Concentration. The disciplines offered by both Universities will be automatically recognized by academic bodies, in accordance with the Specific Academic-Scientific-Technological Cooperation Agreement between UNRC and UFRRJ.
The program aims to qualify professionals at the Ph.D. level to work in teaching, research and management, in activities related to the management of environmental resources of soil and water; agrobiology; isolation, synthesis and use of new substances with potential in the treatment of the main diseases that affect livestock and companion animals, as well as vegetables of economic interest; animal and plant health; and public policies related to Agriculture in the scope of the countries that are part of Mercosur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The PPGCTIA is organized into 4 areas of concentration (Agrobiology, Animal Pathobiology, Compared Public Policies and Natural Resources and Environmental Protection) and several lines of research. In these lines, research projects under the responsibility of the permanent professors of PPGCTIA (UFRRJ) are distributed, among which some are researchers at Embrapa Agrobiologia, associated with the Program as Special Permanent Professors through an agreement between UFRRJ and Agrobiology. Within the framework of professors at UNRC (Argentina), PPGCTIA today has permanent professors and several collaborators.
The permanent staff of PPGCTIA \u2013 UFRRJ has experienced and active post-graduate professors, with some professors having post-doctorates and others having free teaching. Some professors have a CNPq research productivity grant and others have a \u201cScientist of Our State\u201d Research Grant, granted by FAPERJ to scientists of greater scientific and academic importance in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
The entry into PPGCTIA is done through Public Notice, annually. The initial selection is made by the supervising professor and the subsequent analysis of the curriculum and research project by the Selection Committee. The opinion, of a classificatory and eliminatory character as to the merits of the claim, is then approved by the PPGCTIA Collegiate Body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To obtain the title of Doctor, PPGCTIA students must obtain a minimum of 40 credits, constituted as follows: 4 credits in compulsory discipline common to all areas; 2 seminar credits; 30 credits in specific disciplines in the areas of concentration; and 4 research credits. Yet, be passing a qualification exam, preparing and defending the original thesis and preparing a scientific article resulting from the research.
The regimental rules of the Program (Internal Regulation PPGCTIA) meet the specific requirements of the regulations of graduate programs at UFRRJ (Brazil) and UNRC (Argentina).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
