The Graduate Program in Veterinary Medicine (Pathology and Clinical Sciences) – PPGMV was created in 2005 and received recognition by Capes in the same year. It began its activities at Master level in March of 2006, with the entrance of the first group, constituted of 18 students. As a new course, the PPGMV seeks to fill a gap not contemplated by UFRRJ graduate courses and southeast region.
It is proposed the program, integrate the clinical areas (medicine and surgery) with the basic ones, and in this way fill the deficiencies of professional qualification, with emphasis, by the characteristics of its faculty in pathophysiology of animal diseases.
In 2011, the PPGMV started to act also in PhD level. Currently PPGMV was rated as 4 out of 7 by the Coordination for the improvement of Higher Education Personnel-CAPES.
